Arriva la notte degli Emmy Awards e come sempre, anche in questa edizione 2016, ci porteremo dietro persone contente, spettatori furiosi e mille polemiche.
Chi sono stati i trionfatori di questa edizione? Se proprio vogliamo prenderne uno per categoria, allora ecco che abbiamo Game of Thrones tra i drama, Veep tra le Comedy e Peopole vs. O.J. Simpson tra le miniserie.
Ci sono anche altri riconoscimenti importanti come a Rami Malek (Mr. Robot) e Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black) come migliori attori drama, mentre Julia Luis-Dreyfus (Veep) e Jeffrey Tambor (Transparent) lo sono stati per le comedy. Tutti premi meritati quelli attoriali, nonostante la concorrenza di altissimo livello in queste categorie e nonostante si possa preferire un attore all’altro (ad esempio, io personalmente avrei premiato Bob Odenkirk miglior attore drama, ma la scelta di Malek è rispettabilissima).
Quello che torna meno è il trionfo di Game of Thrones che, nonostante il battage mediatico e i grandi investimenti nel realizzare episodi ad alto valore, lo trovo artisticamente inferiore a quasi tutti gli altri partecipanti.
Nelle comedy Veep trionfa, ma fanno la loro incetta di premi anche Transparent e SNL, quindi niente da dire.
Netflix, nonostante il personale record di nomination, porta a casa solo una statuetta per Master of None.
Nelle miniserie e film TV trionfa People vs. O.J. Simpson e questa è una cosa tutta americana, che possono apprezzare solo lì per l’impatto sociale. I competitor, in primis Fargo, ma anche American Crime e The Night Manager, meritavano sicuramente di più. Ma siamo agli Emmy Awards, quindi la musica è questa
